The results

I developed roll three last night and suffice to say I was dissapopinted. My disappointment lie not with my holga but in my self as I think I left the lens cover on for the last 10 pictures.

I can't confirm it but I can't think of another reason why 10/16ths of the roll was simply not exposed. The shutter worked fine.

The first two rolls, while yileding actual images, were a little disappointing because of the lack of contrast. They seemed to be over-exposed although it might have been the negatives being underdevloped. Its hard to guage 68 degrees with your finger from the tap in a condo.

The good news was that with the increased film developer time the 6 images that were taken actually seem to look nice. I haven't been able to scan them in yet so I can upload them but they had much more contrast and good balance between blacks and white.

I may go ahead and take some more tonight but sense I am going out to Sidetracks in Ypsilanti I might not have enough time to develop the film. We'll see...I'll let you know.

And keep me posted on your experiences, I'd love to hear 'em.

My first Holga

I have to begin by thanking Mike Myers, and the Krappy Kamera club. They have introduced me to a great new toy; the Holga.

After attending a show of toy camera prints and listening in on a discussion of the history of The Diana and Holga cameras, I had to go get one.

The next day I went to Big Georges in Ann Arbor, excited as could be. I bought a new Holga camera, developer, stop bath, fixer, fixer remover, bottles canister, etc; everything I needed to start.

Its now two days later. I have been impressed with the results. The fact that there were images on the first roll of film was enough to impress me. I now have negatives hanging up everywhere but no scanner to input them.

I've read that no two holgas are alike. It appears that mine doesn't create much of a vignette, nor, from what I can tell, fall off focus. I suppose that is a little disappointing but that is no problem. Its been funning playing with multiple exposures and the bulb shutter setting. Hopefully I will be able to put up some images once I get the negatives copied electronically.

I'd love to hear your Holga stories or any advice you have so please leave a comment or email me.

There is a link to a great Holga Modification site on the right side.
